Herb Feldhuhn was born and raised in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York. His family had a summer home in Lake Hiawatha, NJ.
Growing up he attended Tilden High School and Brooklyn College. Herb served in the U.S Coast Guard. His working career was in the children’s wear industry in the New York garment center. Being an entrepreneur Herb opened his own sales agency and enjoyed every minute of it. He loved people and found time through the years to volunteer his time and efforts to help others. Herb met and married his wife Marlene after three months. Eventually they moved to Long Island where they raised two lovely daughters, who were the apple of his eye. While living on Long Island, Herb served as Treasurer of Temple Emanu-El.
After retiring, Herb and Marlene moved from their home on Long Island to the Four Seasons at Mirage in the year 2000. He fell in love with the community’s concept referring to it as an “Adult Sleepaway Camp.” Once moved in, it didn’t take long for Herb to get involved. In 2001, he founded the Mirage Men’s Club. In 2004, along with a few other billiards players, Herb founded the Monday Pool Tournaments. In addition, he volunteered with SCORE, an organization affiliated with the Small Business Administration (SBA), where he counseled and mentored small business entrepreneurs in the starting or expanding their business. Being a gentleman and a diplomat, Herb put these traits to good use as a patient representative volunteer at the Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ.
Always a lover of traveling, Herb took advantage of his retirement to travel extensively with Marlene. He always enjoyed the “good life.” Herb passed away in 2010 while doing what he loved, traveling and living the “good life.” He is sorely missed by those who knew him well. The Four Seasons at Mirage community is indebted to him for all that he did to make this community a better place for enjoying the “good life.”
