Jim Wright was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He went on to graduate with a BS, Civil Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of NY (now NYU Tandon School of Engineering), followed by earning an MA in Occupational Health and Safety from New York University.
Jim worked as a safety and operational risk management consultant for more than 45 years. He attained the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation in 1982. He spent the last 41 years of his career with Marsh McLennan Companies, consulting mostly with large construction, live events, and real estate firms, helping these clients reduce inherent risks and implement effective controls to safeguard employees and guests.
Among his most notable client engagements, Jim worked leading the safety efforts on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island restorations in the 1980’s, at the National Football League’s Super Bowl for 23 years, and with the NYC Housing Authority for more than 27 years. Jim also held various managerial positions at Marsh during his career.
Jim and Marlene moved to the Mirage in 2020. They share four children and six grandkids. Marlene is an officer in the Mirage Women’s Club and a Mirage Red Hats member. Jim and Marlene enjoy bowling in the Mirage Bowling League, deep sea fishing, and traveling. Jim enjoys woodworking and often can be found in the Mirage Wood Shop.
Marlene retired as a primary (K-8) school Physical Education teacher and high school Field Hockey coach after a 34-year career in Wanaque, NJ. Jim retired in 2022.
