Michael Pappas was born and raised in New York City, New York. After graduating high school, Michael worked for a few years before volunteering his draft into the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington for his entire service and reached the rank of Acting Platoon Sergeant before being discharged. He returned to New York City and began a short-lived career as a bartender.

Realizing he needed a more solid career, Michael took a position with E.F. Hutton and began his 35-year career on Wall Street. Around that time, he reconnected with his now wife Eileen. They had dated before his induction into the military and over the years had lost contact. They married in 1969 and moved to Yonkers, NY. Four years later they moved to South Plainfield, NJ until their move to the Four Seasons at Mirage in 2003.

While working on Wall Street in the finance division of E.F. Hutton, Michael took an interest in accounting and realized that computers were the wave of the future. So he applied and was accepted to Pace University where he attended night school and obtained his BBA in Accounting & Electronic Data Processing.

Michael worked for several firms while on Wall Street but is with Gruntal & Co., Inc. that he began to specialize in Payroll Management & Operations. He obtained his certification as a Payroll Professional in 1995 and began his long association with the American Payroll Association. He became part of the association’s National Speakers Bureau as well as a member of the their Board of Advisors, Certification Board and President of 2 different chapters of the association.

After leaving Wall Street, Michael opened his own Payroll Consulting practice specializing in services that provided solutions to Payroll, Human Resources and Benefits problems as well as Payroll Educational Training.

Since moving to the Four Seasons at Mirage, Michael has been active in the Men’s Club where he has served as its President, Treasurer and as a Director. Michael is also part of the community’s bowling league, traveling softball team and helps administer the weekly Monday night pocket billiards tournaments. In 2010, he joined the Toms River Chapter of SCORE, a volunteer organization that helps counsel small business owners or those looking to open a small business. You may see Michael cycling from his house to the Mirage clubhouse during the summer months to take advantage of the clubhouse’s workout facilities.
