Roger Gilmore was born and raised in Paterson, NJ. He is a graduate of Central High School in Paterson and attended Paterson State and Ramapo Colleges.
After Roger met and married his wife, Carol, they moved to Franklin Lakes NJ where they lived for 25 years.
Roger worked for the State of New Jersey at the Motor Vehicle Department for 34 years. He supervised several Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations during his career with the DMV including Lodi, Newark, Wayne, and Ridgewood.
While with the Motor Vehicle Commission, Roger founded and directed the operation of the State of New Jersey Mobile Inspection Network. This network consisted of teams of inspectors working in conjunction with the New Jersey State Police and local police departments. Their function was to stop vehicles on the public roadways and performed safety inspections. The program went statewide in 1980 and still operates today.
Later in Roger’s career, he directed all services for the Motor Vehicle Division in Northern New Jersey as their Regional Director.This operation included the Wayne Regional Service facility, 20 Motor Vehicle Agencies, 12 Inspection Stations, 10 Mobile Teams and 15 Driver Testing facilities. His staff of 450 people included inspectors, supervisors, examiners and service employees.
After retiring, Roger and Carol moved to the Mirage community. Roger collects, buys, and sell 50’s phonograph records, as well as enjoying the activities here, traveling a great deal, and visiting gaming facilities with his wife Carol.
