Dieter Arhlich was born in Hamburg, West Germany and came to the United States at age seven. He attended the public schools in the Bronx, NY until his family moved to Ridgefield Park, NJ while he was still in high school. Dieter finished his high school education in Ridgefield Park’s High School. He then attended the Newark College of Engineering majoring in electrical and industrial engineering.
Dieter served the U.S. Army Reserves from 1969 to 1975, where as a Drill Instructor he rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Dieter married his wife, Gail, in 1970. They have one child, a daughter Kristy who is married and is an eye surgeon.
In 1972, Dieter joined the Ridgefield Park Police Department where he served for 34 years. During those 34 years, Dieter rose through the ranks, from Patrolman to Sergeant to Detective Sergeant to Lieutenant to Captain to Chief of Police.
In 2000, he moved from Ridgefield Park, NJ to Brick, NJ. Then, in 2003, he moved to the Four Seasons at Mirage. Dieter retired from the Ridgefield Park Police Department in 2006, after serving 7 years as their Chief of Police.
Since moving to Mirage, he has been active in The Men’s Club, the Mirage Players and the Golf League. Currently, Dieter is enjoying his retirement, traveling and playing golf.
