Ernie Blais moved to the Mirage after retiring from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in July 2013.
Ernie worked as a civil engineer with the FHWA for 40 years and is a registered professional engineer in the state of California. Ernie’s last assignment was as the Division Administrator for the New Jersey Division office where he was responsible for its $2B highway construction program.
Ernie and his wife, Marilyn enjoy ballroom dancing. They find the Mirage offers many opportunities to practice with its jukebox Saturday nights and its many music venues. Ernie also enjoys the gym, pool, bocce and an occasional poker night at the Mirage. He also plays canasta with family and friends, but hasn’t learned the “mirage version” as yet.
Ernie especially enjoys travelling with cruises to any location probably being his favorite vacation to get away from the rigors of retirement life. Ernie spends the rest of his retirement time visiting his three children and five grandkids who are located in Baltimore, MD; Columbus, Ohio and Metuchen, NJ.
