alvatore Candela is native of Queens New York. He attended De LaSalle High School, a Christian Brothers school and St. Francis College in Brooklyn. As a young boy, he worked as a helper in his father’s butcher shop, and in the local Animal Hospital.
In 1969, Sal began his professional work life in the field of communications. In his 31-year career, he worked for New York Telephone, NYNEX, and as a consultant with Bell Atlantic and Verizon. Sal is the recipient of several awards and certificates related to Marketing, Sales, Business Meeting Skills, and Teaching and Course Development.
Sal and his wife, Helene, were married in 1977 and moved to Secaucus right after marrying. They are the proud parents of a son, Major. Salvatore E. Candela. He is married to Major. Kathleen R. Candela, both in the United States Army. Majors Candela have given Sal and Helene a grandson, Salvatore D. Candela.
Upon his retirement, Sal worked as a part-time Medical Escort Driver for the city of Secaucus.
Permanently retiring in 2004, Sal and Helene moved to the Four Seasons at Mirage in June of that year. Since then he has been active in the Mirage Italian American Cultural Club, the Mirage Pool Committee, the Mirage Men’s Club, and several Golf leagues.
He and his wife have had, and continue to enjoy, a terrific life here at the Mirage. They are constantly meeting new wonderful and interesting friends, and are taking advantage of the many functions available in the community.
