William “Bill” Grunewald was born in New York City and lived in three of the five city boroughs before moving to the City of Yonkers, New York in the late 1940s.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Westchester Community College. Bill served two years in the US Army
Bill married and moved to Bergan County, NJ where he and his wife raised family in the towns of Paramus and New Milford.
He began a career in retail sales with E.J. Korvettes as an Assistant Department Manager. During his twenty years with EJ Korvettes, Bill became a store manager and then a Regional Manager. After leaving EJ Korvettes, he worked at T.S.S. Seedman’s Department Stores, Brooklyn, New York, as Vice President & Director of Stores and then as
Senior Vice President of Operations for Job Lot Pushcart, New York City. Bill later joined the TJX Corporation in Massachusetts and ran the Marshalls Metro Division, responsible for stores in New York City, Westchester, and Northern New Jersey until he retired in 2002.
Bill and his wife Linda are kept very busy with their three children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. They both love boating, swimming, and traveling and have been snowbirds in Florida for the past eleven years.
Bill belonged to the bowling league and joined the Men´s Club in 2003 as a Director. Since being in the Men’s Club, he also has served as 1st Vice President and 2nd Vice President in charge of Community events. In 2014, Bill was elected President of the Men’s Club. Asked why he is so involved, he will tell you, “I enjoy the camaraderie and friendship working with a great group of guys.”
